Contacts will settle in the energized position after the movement is complete. The electric circuit connected to the normally closed contact will disconnect and circuitry connected to the normally open contact will engage. After removing coil power, the normally closed contact will return to closed and the normally open contact will be open again. Relays with latching function maintain the on or off state with a pulse instead of continuously energizing the coil. One coil latching sets or resets the relay by applying signals of opposite polarities. Two coil latching relays feature set and reset coils. Consequently the relay is set or reset by alternately applying pulse signals of the same polarity.
