Overview

The E3AS-F series ToF technology can be used to detect presence/absence of objects at long distances. Specifically, certain E3AS-F models can detect up to 1.5 meters away. Traditionally, long-distance detection is achieved by using through-beam photoelectric sensors which require a transmitter and receiver pair that must be wired separately and then properly aligned. Additionally, a basic retro-reflective photoelectric sensor may also be used. However, this also requires the use of a reflector that must be properly aligned. With the E3AS-F, users can reduce setup time because ToF technology only requires a single housing in order to function properly. Furthermore, if detecting objects within shorter ranges, a basic diffuse photoelectric sensor may be proposed as a solution. While this sensor is also single-housing and requires no additional setup, a diffuse photoelectric sensor's detection capabilities are greatly affected by the physical characteristics of the sensed object. In these cases, the E3AS-F is a superior and reliable choice.
