This is a schematic of the TDA5051A solution featuring power line isolation. This solution has unique features for a digital power line communication system. The power line insulation circuitry and the Rx/Tx (Receive/Transmit) data interface to the power line is provided by a specialized converter transformer. A series power inductor and a high voltage coupling capacitor afford power line filtering. The power line insulation circuitry and the AC to DC power supply circuit provides the +5 VDC supply for the TDA5051A. In this solution, the clock reference is generated by a low cost, fundamental crystal oscillator. The clock reference may be provided by an external clock source from the microcontroller clock. Alternatively, the clock output (CLKOUT) of the TDA5051A may be used as the clock for the microcontroller. The CLKOUT, DATAIN , DATAOUT and PD (power down) I/Os provide an easy interface with the microcontroller.
