The Third component are the Inserts. Here is where the customer would terminate the conductor wires to the mating contacts inside each insert. A complete system consists of male inserts on one end and female insets on the other end. Both male and female inserts can go in either the hood or housing depending on the specific application. Typically, the end that has the live power source would have the female inserts to protect the user. Inserts come in a variety of termination styles including screw, crimp, spring and push-in wire terminations. The inserts shown here are the screw style termination type. The Molex GWconnect line of Heavy-Duty Rectangular Inserts are compatible with various competitor Hoods and Housings for easy replacement.
