In the continuing effort to reduce overall stack height, Mill-Max has introduced a new minimal insertion length contact which is designed to work with shorter mating leads. These new Mill-Max receptacles are characterized by an early engagement contact point, reverse entry capability, low contact resistance and high current capacity due to increased contact area. Early engagement receptacles include a hexagonal feature machined into the shoulder which allows the receptacles to be installed flush with the top of the PC board. Features of this new design is shorter mating pins can be utilized which provide advantages such as compressed packaging, shorter electrical paths and zero mating lead protrusion. Mill-Max early engagement contacts are also capable of reverse entry which allows mating pins to be engaged from the top or bottom side.
