In a typical hybrid application, off-board analog components communicate with the main MCU through common communications interfaces, such as SPI and UART. With this topology, system latency, responsiveness, and performance are often limited by the bottleneck in data transmission speed. With the analog modules on-board, this bottleneck is eliminated as all modules can communicate at “chip speed”. Data is available to be analyzed immediately and, in products with on-board DMA, CPU processing load is minimized.
