The two types of transformer drivers are the full H-bridge and the push-pull variety. A full H-bridge configuration utilizes a pair of P & N type MOSFET switches that takes turns to swing twice the VIC voltage of the transformer driver’s input supply. It is capable of driving higher currents and suitable for applications that have higher loads. The push-pull utilizes two NMOS FETs in a push pull configuration. It has lower EMI compared to the full H-bridge implementation and is suitable for applications with lower power requirements, but requires a transformer with a center tap.
