The LT3015’s low output voltage noise of 60µVRMS is ideal for low noise applications; the device does not require a BYP pin to achieve this level of performance, simplifying the solution. The device has an adjustable output voltage range of -1.22V to -29.5V covering a wide range of applications. The wide input voltage range of -1.8V to -30V offers flexibility, it works well in systems where multiple voltage rails are needed and used. The LT3015’s low dropout voltage of 310mV @ 1.5A limits power dissipation and improves system efficiency. Precision current limit of ±10% over temperature means no need to overdesign the input supply current capability. The shutdown pin can set a programmable undervoltage lockout or UVLO threshold for the regulator input supply for system flexibility. The device offers bulletproof protection: reverse-output protection, precision current limiting with foldback to keep the power transistor in its safe operating area, and thermal limiting with hysteresis. Available thermally enhanced packages include: a 3mm x 3mm DFN-8, MSOP-12, TO-220, and DD-Pak. Small DFN and MSOP packages provide plenty of current in a small footprint with great thermal performance. The TO-220 and DD-Pak power packages are good for mounting on heat sinks or directly to the PCB for higher power dissipation.
