This slide shows a comparison of the LTC3899 to the LTC3859AL, which is also a Buck/Buck/Boost DC/DC controller. The LTC3899’s input voltage operating range is from 4.5V to 60V, and down to 2.2V after start-up. The LTC3859AL operates over a 4.5V to 38V input voltage range and down to 2.5V after start-up. The LTC3899 also allows for a higher output voltage from the buck converters of up to 60V versus up to 24V for the LTC3859AL. In addition, the LTC3899 has an adjustable gate drive from 5V to 10V, ideal for logic and standard level MOSFETs. The LTC3859AL has a fixed gate drive voltage of 5.4V. Furthermore, the LTC3899 has integrated bootstrap diodes and selectable boost output voltage. The LTC3959AL does not have either of these features. This slide also shows a comparison of the LTC3899 with the LTC3892. The LTC3892 is a dual output buck that is almost identical to the LTC3899 without the boost section. It is available in smaller packages and performs exactly like the two buck controllers inside the LTC3899.
