The LTC3882 features configurability and telemetry over a PMBus — an open standard I²C-based digital serial interface protocol. This interface enables monitoring of the voltage, current, temperature and faults. The user can also program the output voltage, current limit, sequencing, soft-start and soft-stop. In addition, outputs can be margined and the under voltage and overvoltage thresholds can be set. The LTC3882 has analog control loops which reduces the amount of output capacitance required and provides a faster transient response when compared to a digital control loop. The internal EEPROM stores configuration settings and fault logging. With ±0.5% maximum DC output error over temperature, ±1% current read back accuracy and an integrated 16-bit Delta Sigma ADC, the LTC3882 combines analog switching regulator performance with precision mixed signal data acquisition.
