LTC2876-2877-Slide5

Here is the eye diagram of a 12Mbps signal from the circuit we saw in the previous slide, except an actual 100m PROFIBUS cable was used instead of simulated cable resistance. The top yellow eye diagram is the differential driver output voltage taken at the output pins, PB and PA, of the LTC2877, while the bottom red eye diagram is the differential driver output voltage taken at the far end of the cable, which Linear is calling B’ and A’. The clean wide-open eye diagrams reveal that the LTC2876 and LTC2877 both have low jitter, low distortion, minimal time variation at zero crossing, low sensitivity to timing errors, and plenty of opportunities to sample the PROFIBUS data with high signal-to-noise ratio.
