The FG series microphones suitable for ultrasonic applications are available with two frequency responses, normal and damped. The smoother damped response may be preferred in broadband applications where the sensitivity change with frequency must be compensated for by external circuits. The small size and high performance of series FG microphones make them ideal for a wide variety of applications including animal detection and vocalization reception, condition monitoring in machinery, and both ultrasonic and audible pickup in tight spaces. Series FG is often mounted at the end of a boom or probe.
