By taking the category and application voltage and plugging them into the inverse power law equation shown here (top left), a customer can determine an acceleration factor due to voltage. By taking the category and application temperature and plugging them into Arrhenius equation (top right), a customer can determine an acceleration factor due to temperature. A total acceleration factor can be determined by multiplying the acceleration factor due to voltage with the acceleration factor due to temperature. By taking the total acceleration factor and multiplying it by the lifetime specified in the datasheet at category temperature and voltage, the customer is able to determine the expected lifetime of a polymer capacitor at their application voltage and temperature.
