Operation of Pyroelectric Infrared Sensor Image of KEMET's Pyroelectric Effect
The operation of the sensor can be better understood by looking at the time versus voltage graph shown here. At point 1, there is no infrared being detected. When infrared comes in, there is a spike in voltage, but as time goes on the infrared stabilizes itself. When the infrared is cut off, the voltage spikes down and finally, it goes back to its original state of no infrared.
