In summary, current soldering technologies have four issues when working with aluminum electrolytic capacitors on PCB designs. Firstly, they require a lot of heat to be soldered into the board which can cause damage. When washing the PCB at the end of the assembly process, aluminum electrolytics can trap water in the insulating sleeve that can leak out later. Thirdly reworking capacitors at the end of the assembly process that were previously soldered into place can be costly and damage existing good components. Finally, field repair and preventative maintenance is timely and complicated when traditional soldering methods are used. Press-Fit solves all four of these problems. Press-Fit uses equipment to “Press” the male blade connection of the capacitor into the female PCB hole. This can be done post PCB washing and does not require any additional soldering techniques.
