Industrial and consumer applications often require batteries as power sources. Therefore, products need to be able to handle a change in voltage as the battery discharges. This can lead to design issues when using a standard oscillator with a fixed supply voltage. A discharging battery may cause a decrease in the source voltage, which consequently changes the frequency of the oscillator. Following this, the timing accuracy within the application will decline. As can be seen on the graph here, with a standard fixed voltage oscillator of 3.3 V there may be accuracy problems at 20% battery power and below. Meanwhile, the IQXO-951 guarantees trouble-free performance right until the end of the battery life.
