The ground plates are attached to the longer (longitudinal) side of the connector and have terminals that mount to the PCB. Signal and ground contacts are arranged in a 10:1 ratio to stabilize the grounding and to reduce crosstalk noise. Additional metal fittings are provided at each end of the connector to enhance retention on the PCB and are connected to the ground plates.
