For server and telecom applications, isolated power is needed to convert 48 VDC into the 12V that is commonly used to distribute power on the motherboards. EPC’s eGaN FETs are smaller and more efficient than that of the state-of-the-art silicon-based MOSFETs. To show how this can translate into greater power density, lower cost and higher efficiency, EPC designed a fully regulated, isolated eighth brick converter using off-the shelf components.
