Finally, there is no single point of failure with a Thread network. Now, some other mesh networks require users to have a coordinator…one omniscient node that gets to decide who gets to join and who does not, and is really responsible for the well-being of the network. Thread does not work that way. Thread nominates a leader. Think of it this way. All the routers on a thread network get together and nominate a leader. Then when a specific user is the leader, they get to grant privileges of who joins and who does not. Now say that leader goes away or gets unplugged. Well, the routers get together again and nominate another leader. This is also done really fast so that there is no single point of failure.
