Choosing the right microSD or SD card for an application requires the customer to define several criteria in the selection process. The performance, longevity and temperature rating of the raw NAND used in the card must meet the demands of the design. Choosing the right form factor best suited for the available space and required density as well as understanding which host device the application is using is imperative. A designer should also understand if their application has any speed class or application performance class requirements. The better the customer understands these factors, the better choice the customer will make in selecting a microSD or SD card as the storage solution. The following slides will help define what all these variables really mean and how they apply to the broad range of cards available.
