Shown here is the basic operating principal of the WL10 liquid leak sensors. The sensing elements of the WL10s are an LED, a light detector and a prism. The light from the LED reflects off of the prism into the light detector. When the liquid makes contact with the detecting element, the light from the LED is diminished. The light detector recognizes the reduced brightness of the light and sends a signal from the sensor that there is a leak.
