The actuating temperature is the temperature when the thermostat will switch from its original state. It is important to note that a thermostat will not switch back to its original state when the temperature drops to just below the switching temperature. An example of this is a normally closed thermostat that switches open at 27°C/81°F, but may drop down to 15°C/60°F before it closes again.
