It is important to know that any product that has holes or slots must be properly gasketed or protected. A good option is often a cable gland such as Bud’s IPG and NG series. Other uses for these holes and cutouts could be displays, push buttons, switches, or LCD screens. Testing will have to be done on the final product to allow it to be marketed as a NEMA or IP rated product only if holes/slots or other openings are created. However, having a NEMA/IP rated product to begin with will help accelerate the approval process.
