Safety capacitors are everywhere, and perhaps the most recognizable application would be charging bricks for mobile phones. The charging bricks, or power supplies, convert AC power to DC power at a safe level for the battery to charge. Similarly, safety capacitors are typically found in the power supply circuit of electronics that need to be plugged into mains electricity: kitchen appliances, smart thermostats, computers, laptop chargers, washers/dryers, printers, pedestal chargers, and docking stations for smart vacuums. The designer should not neglect electronics that are powered over telephone cables, like modems and fax machines, which are also susceptible to the same transients and surges that are common to mains electricity.
