TransGuards™ have a different set of parameters, described in this slide, than traditional devices. When choosing a TransGuard™ for an application, first determine the circuits maximum operating voltage – steady state voltage plus the logic high voltage (if imposed upon the DC). Next choose a TransGuard™ with an energy rating equal to or greater than the expected transient. Finally, choose a TransGuard™ capacitance close to that of the circuit. As an added benefit, the user may be able to remove external capacitors in the circuit as a cost reduction.
