During a sudden power loss firmware in some solid state drive solutions can be corrupted. This data corruption can cause the drive to then prevent any future access resulting in total data loss and also the need to replace the SSD. A power protection feature can prevent this type of malfunction from occurring. ATP’s PowerProtector creates multiple copies of the firmware at different times, ensuring a backup copy of the firmware exists in case the master is corrupted. Access to the master firmware is simultaneously limited, reducing the possibility of read disturbance. The firmware system data is always stored on the strongest Flash pages, thus insuring the data integrity of both the firmware and the data stored on the drive.
