Differential-Circuit-Slide16

The plot on this slide shows the resulting second and third-order harmonics when the ADL5562 is configured for single-ended and differential topologies. Though the distortion performance in single-ended mode is very low, there is a clear advantage in the even-order performance with differential operation. In the single-ended mode the ADL5562 has second-order harmonic values of -82dBc at 100MHz. In differential operation, the device has lower second-order harmonic values, less than -100dBc at the same frequency. In addition, approximately 6dB of improvement on the output 1dB compression point and OIP3 can be expected from a differential topology on the same supply rails.
