By contrast, iCoupler products combine high bandwidth on-chip transformers and fine scale C-MOS circuitry to realize digital isolators that improve performance with speeds up to 150 mbps, improves reliability with over 50 years of operating life with 400 VRMS working voltage, reduces power consumption with less than 1mA per channel and reduces size and design complexity by integrating other functions along with the isolation barrier. Analog Devices iCoupler digital isolators use multiple die in standard surface mount packages. Shown here is a four channel bidirectional isolator. The transformers and transceiver circuitry are on the die on the right side of the package and the die to the left includes transceiver circuitry only. The metal lead frames on which the die are attached are split to isolate the substrate of the chips, and the molding compound also contributes to the isolation strength of these products, similar to optocouplers.
