ABC Logic™ operates on a relatively simple principle. As the sensor collects the operational data about the environment it operates within, it extracts the background CO₂ concentration information from this data. This information is then used to compensate for sensor drift, operating as an ongoing recalibration process. Depending on the geographic location, background CO₂ concentrations are between 400 and 450 ppm. Sometimes variations of outside CO₂ concentration are observed; however, these variations are generally of temporary or cyclic nature, mostly caused by vegetation and/or human activity. As a result, this acquired background concentration data can be used as a statistically-derived reference to compensate for drift in the CO₂ sensor.
