DIN Rail Mounted Circuit Breakers Slide 8

The difference between Supplemental and Branch Circuit Protection is easy to describe. Supplemental Circuit Protection requires one other level of protection between it and the load and the breaker cannot “operate” the load (turning it on and off). Branch Circuit protection does not require another circuit protection device between it and the load and can directly operate the load as an “on-off” switch.
