Thermal impedance is the measure of the interfacial resistance of a TIM, its conductivity, and the TIM thickness. It is calculated by dividing the temperature difference across the interface, per unit area, by the power output of the processor. Thermal impedance is expressed in units of °C-in2/W and must be used with effective contact area.
