The 3M™ Power Clamp Wiremount Sockets combine a number of features to assist both with termination and in-service use. For cable harness makers, color-coded inspection covers help assemblers pick the right connector for the gauge size of the cable being used (clear/grey and blue for 18 AWG; red and yellow for 20 AWG). The cover is also semi-transparent to allow for wire inspection and wire retention. The Blue and Grey Cover IDC contact accepts both discrete wire and ribbon style cables. The Red Cover denotes the socket is designed to terminate a cable with 3 wires (20AWG) and 1 drain similar to the CC-Link standard cable (the hole for drain in the red cover is specifically designed to center the drain wire in the center of the IDC). For technicians installing and maintaining systems, the integrated polarization feature helps ensure proper interconnection of mated pairs. The Type B socket is designed for use with CC-Link compliant devices; however can be used in many applications. One-touch positive latching helps ensure that once mated, both sides of the two part connector system remain in contact during use, even in high vibration environments, yet it requires only one hand to disconnect the cable assembly. A dust cover option is available that helps reduce the risk of contaminants reaching the contacts.
