Automotive Qualified Ethernet Devices

Microchip, an industry leader in analog, high bandwidth communications and Ethernet IC solutions, introduces Ethernet capability into the worldwide automotive market with the launch of its family of AEC-Q100 Automotive qualified Ethernet devices. This device family offers complete flexibility when interfacing Ethernet to any desired processor via MII, RMII, SNI or PCI bus.

Solutions are available from a single Ethernet port up to three Ethernet Ports. The devices, KSZ8041NL AM — Single-Port Fast Ethernet Physical Layer Transceiver; and KSZ8893MQL AM — 3-Port Managed Fast Ethernet Switch with MII/RMII, are the industry's first and only AEC-Q100 Automotive qualified Ethernet devices on the market today.

KSZ8041NL

The KSZ8041NL is a single supply 10Base-T/100Base-TX Physical Layer Transceiver, which provides MII/RMII interfaces to transmit and receive data. A unique mixed signal design extends signaling distance while reducing power consumption. HP Auto MDI/MDI-X provides the most robust solution for eliminating the need to differentiate between crossover and straight-through cables. The KSZ8041NL represents a new level of features and performance and is an ideal choice of physical layer transceiver for 10Base-T/100Base-TX applications. The KSZ8041NL comes in a 32-pin, lead-free MLF® (QFN per JDEC) package.

KSZ8893MQL

The KSZ8893MQL, a highly integrated Layer 2 managed switch, is designed for low port count, cost-sensitive 10/100 Mbps switch systems. It offers an extensive feature set that includes rate limiting, tag/port-based VLAN, QoS priority, management, management information base (MIB) counters, RMII/MII/SNI, and CPU control/data interfaces to effectively address both current and emerging Fast Ethernet applications. The KSZ8893MQL contains two 10/100 transceivers with patented mixed-signal low-power technology, three media access control (MAC) units, a high-speed non-blocking switch fabric, a dedicated address lookup engine, and an on-chip frame buffer memory.
