RECOM RACM60-K Series 60 W AC/DC Converters | First Look

Power supplies can be one of the most challenging parts of any design. Ideally a power supply is small, efficient, and can operate from AC mains anywhere in the world all while passing the necessary safety certifications and EMC regulations, with even more stringent requirements for devices in medical applications. RECOM Power’s RACM60-K power supplies address all these concerns, allowing designers to focus on more valuable aspects of their design. The supplies feature a 2” x 3” footprint for use in tight spaces, while meeting multiple safety requirements for use in industrial, household, and medical devices, including 2MOPP certification and compliance with Type B and BF requirements. It also has a built-in EMC filter to pass medical and consumer Class B EMC certifications, with enough margin for Installation Class II or Class I PELV with ground output. The RACM60-K can drive loads up to 60W at up to 90% efficiency, and it’s been optimized to maintain that high efficiency over the full load range. The supplies operate from a universal AC input and can drive their full output power at ambient temperatures up to 55°C using only natural air convection cooling, allowing for the totally silent operation ideal in medical offices and other quiet spaces. For higher temperature applications, they can be used at up to 85°C with proper derating. RECOM Power offers the RACM60-K with output voltages from 5V to 48V with options for connectors or through-hole terminations for the input and output. The supplies are also offered in a 2”x4” variant for compatibility with legacy designs.
