New Product Discoveries Ep 305: Nichicon SLB and AB BM-LITE Module | DigiKey
Kaili Simpson, Associate Electronics Technician at DigiKey, presents New Product Discoveries. The SLB series batteries from Nichicon borrow their form factor from another energy storage device. These rechargeable lithium-ion batteries come in case styles identical to Nichicon’s electrolytic capacitors, making this series ideal for use in compact IoT applications. The batteries are rated at 2.4V with a capacity of 350 micro-amp hours and can function at temperatures as low as -30C. After 25,000 charge/discharge cycles the batteries maintain over 80% of their initial capacity. The next is the compact and efficient BM Lite fingerprint module from Fingerprint Cards AB. The standalone module is ready to use out of the box. Simply connect it over UART or SPI communications and use serial commands to enroll, verify, and get your biometric applications up-and-running. Its robust design includes a coating that protects against ESD well above ±15 kV as well as protection against daily wear and tear. The FPC-BM Lite sensor is also available in waterproof IP-rated classes.
