Molex, LLC - 5G25 Series 5G mmWave RF Flex-to-Board Connectors | First Look
The Molex 5G25 Series 5G mmWave RF pitch flex-to-board connectors with a 0.35 millimeter pitch. The connectors can support signals up to 25 gigahertz with a VSWR of 1.5 maximum. This diverges from competitive solutions that do not reach the K-band and do not offer ground shielding. The connectors feature Molex’s proprietary contact shielding with superior EMI reduction and signal integrity performance. Adding a center shield-in contact within the receptacle or plug isolates each row to boost the overall signal integrity stability even more to meet the toughest 5G connectivity requirements. The compact size of the 5G25 series offers elevated printed wiring board design flexibility. The connector also enables designers of RF antenna modules and mobile devices to combine RF and non-RF signals, which reduces the need for additional connectors while producing additional space and cost savings. The wide alignment of a 0.3 millimeter pitch and span allows the connectors to be easily placed in the proper mating positions which helps prevent any misoperation. Mating positioning support protects against potential RF contact buckling and shock caused by accidental drop. The connectors feature a mated height of 0.7 millimeters, width of 2.76 millimeters, and length of 4.16 millimeters with a durability of 10 mating cycles. The connectors can withstand up to 50 volts with 1 amp per pin. With low contact resistance of 30 milliohms at the signal terminal and 20 milliohms at the RF terminal, the 5G25 series have a dielectric withstanding voltage of 250 VAC. With operating temperature from -40 to 85 degrees celsius, the miniature 5G25 connectors are designed to suit a huge spectrum of industry applications including AR and VR devices, smart homes, smartphones, and wearables.
