ESD Protection for Ultra-High-Speed Interfaces - SP00R6 Series | First Look

Welcome to First Look, brought to you by Digi-Key and Littelfuse. Littelfuse’s SP00R6 series diodes fulfill the growing need for low-voltage data line protection in a space-efficient package that is able to safely absorb repetitive electrostatic discharge strikes and transient currents. These diodes offer electrostatic discharge protection above the maximum level specified in IEC 61000-4-2, and can safely withstand a contact discharge of plus or minus 12 kilovolts and an air discharge of plus or minus 15 kilovolts without performance degradation. They meet IEC standard 61000-4-4 and can safely withstand electrical fast transient currents of 30 amps. SP00R6 series diodes have a peak surge current tolerance of 3 amps and meet IEC 61000-4-5, 2nd Edition. The SP00R6 series also features a reverse standoff voltage of 0.3 volts and an extremely low breakdown and turn-on voltage of 0.7 volts. Their capacitance at 3 gigahertz measures just 0.2 picofarads. With a clamping voltage of 2.5 volts at a current of 2 amps, or 2 volts at a current of 1 amp, they provide ideal protection for USB lines and other low-voltage -0.3 to +0.3 volt data lines such as the Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 interfaces. They come in the space-efficient surface mount 0201 package and are designed to be stored between -55 ℃ and 150 ℃ and operated between -40 ℃ and 125 ℃. Additionally, they are halogen-free, lead-free, and RoHS-compliant. Typical applications for Littelfuse SP00R6 diodes include protecting low-voltage data lines such as USB and Thunderbolt interfaces, especially in environments subject to electrostatic discharge or electrical surges.
