One of the MCOIL’s™ advantages is excellent DC bias characteristics. The first graph shown here, on the left, in Figure 3 compares the inductance of MDMK4040, an MCOIL inductor versus NRS4012, a ferrite-based inductor at various levels of DC bias. The MCOIL is able to maintain a steadier decline in inductance as DC bias levels increase. The second graph, on the right, in Figure 3 demonstrates the saturation effects of the MDMK4040 and NRS4012 at varying levels of DC bias. The MCOIL is able to support higher levels of current than ferrite counterparts by saturating at a slower rate.
