First, calculate the TON time from the equation shown in this slide. Use the maximum VIN value for the TON calculation. For these parameters, a TON time of 318ns is calculated. An equation for calculating the resistor for setting RTON can be found on the SC417 datasheet. For this example a value of 154.9kΩ is calculated. The closest 1% value of resistor is 154kΩ. To set the output voltage, use the previously presented feedback equation. From this, select 10kΩ for RFB2 and 11kΩ for RFB1. To calculate the ripple current, use the equation found on slide 16 which includes the terms D and T. For D, use VOUT/VIN max and for T, use 1/FSW. Ripple current is then calculated to be 3.9A peak-to-peak.
