AC Input LED Driver Slide 2
When a comparison between traditional lighting and SSL lighting is made, it is easy to understand why SSL is gaining so much popularity. One unit of measurement that can be used across all technology types is Lumens per W. Lumens per W is the amount of luminous flux generated per W of electrical energy consumed by a lighting source. Using this measurement allows a comparison of the lighting efficacy between traditional lighting sources and SSL. To deliver 1,400 lumens with an incandescent light requires 100W of power. Likewise, 80W is required to deliver the same amount of lumens with Halogen, 30W with a Compact Fluorescent Light, and 18W with Fluorescent. LEDs are constantly improving the lumens per W, but at this point in time, 20W is required to deliver 1400 lumens.
