The POWR1220AT8 allows designers to integrate all the functions associated with a 0.2% accuracy, 12 power supply supervisor. It has an integrated glitch filter to protect from reacting to power supply and switching spikes. Being integrated it can react to a power supply under voltage within 65µs. The twenty digital I/Os are easily programmed for sequencing power supplies. Power supplies can be sequencing on either by changing the sequence timing, detecting a power good on a previous sequenced power supply or a combination of detecting a power good and then a time delay. The digital I/Os can also be programmed to provide flexible reset and watchdog timing from 10ms to 2 minutes. Four of the digital I/Os can be configured as high voltage MOSFET drivers. This enables the POWR1220AT8 to control MOSFET switches associated with Hot-Swap, Power OR’ing or Power Feed. The POWR1220AT8 integrates a 10-bit ADC and a I²C interface. This allows the POWR1220AT8 to measure any of the 12 input voltages and report the measurement through the I²C interface. Any of the input voltages can be compared to an internal set point register (programmed through the JTAG interface). An analog control signal (via the internal 8-bit DAC) can provide open or close loop control of the trim pin of up to eight voltage regulators. This allows power supplies to be trimmed to much higher degrees of accuracy - inexpensively. It also allows for margining power supplies or the varying of power supplies over their maximum range to test the design’s robustness to power supply variations.
