NFC 13.56 MHz Magnetic Couplingfor Data Communication

In order to understand how this works, consider the theory of electromagnetic induction. The antenna in this example is an RFID reader that generates a magnetic flux which will come into contact with the RFID tag, and thus establish communication with the tag and the reader, as shown in the picture below in blue. However, in most applications the situation will be different, as there will often be some metal used as well (for example, for the housing or casing and battery) and the impact of the metal will be to mitigate the magnetic field, absorb some of the flux, and considerably reduce the range of the communication distance, as shown in the image in the middle. Finally, by applying the Flex Suppressor® between the antenna and the metal, the magnetic sheet will restore the magnetic flux circulation and can even help to further improve the communication distance, as illustrated on the right side.
