The negative pole behaves differently than what most analog designers are used to. The gain actually moves in a positive direction. The phase improvement one gets, to the control loop, is created by delaying the large phase shift to after the crossover frequency, but does not eliminate it. Be careful in using this too aggressively. The GUI will allow the designer to set this at a point where the gain could rise enough to make the design unstable.
