Assume a ZXCT1009 is used in this example. Note: The ZXCT1010 is better optimized for portable battery operation; however, the ZXCT1009 is used as an example here because it is one of the simplest (3 pins) devices. Only the values of two resistors need to be determined and the problem is solved. When the load is off, the most that the ZXCT1009 will draw from the battery is 4µA. However, when the load is on, a minimum drain on the battery is still desired. This means that IOUT should be as low as practical without compromising accuracy or linearity.
