Intel® leverages two process options within the 28-nm portfolio. This approach enables tailoring of the device families to address a diverse range of design requirements. Intel®’s SoC FPGAs are based on a low-cost product family, which is the Cyclone® devices, and mid-range product family, which is the Arria® devices, leveraging TSMC’s 28LP process. This is the optimal choice for addressing power- and cost-constrained applications. The 28LP process delivers the lowest absolute power and cost at 28 nm. As a result, the SoCs achieve 40% lower power than the previous process node. The additional hard IP in the SoC FPGAs further reduces device power consumption while increasing system performance.
