BOS0614 Piezo Haptic Driver

Boreas Technologies BOS0614 four-channel piezo haptic drivers are based on patented CapDrive™ technology, capable of driving up to four 60 V piezo actuators. Their zero power sensing (ZPS) allows for the replacement of mechanical buttons. The 10 kSPS sensing interface supports custom haptic feedback, while four GPIOs trigger low-latency responses, mimicking mechanical buttons. Communication and configuration are managed via a two-wire MIPI I3C interface, compatible with I²C. The deep FIFO interface enables efficient waveform streaming, with a built-in synthesizer and 2 kB RAM for generating HD haptic waveforms in RAM playback or RAM synthesis modes.

Boreas Technologies provides a development kit to help users get familiar with the BOS0614 Piezo Haptic Driver IC. The PCB features a single BOS0614 with four output channels to drive multiple piezoelectric actuators from a single driver IC. The PCB is breakable, allowing the separation of the BOS0614 and its components and enabling users to directly control the driver using their platform. This kit connects to associated PC software over USB for easy programming of the BOS0614 and manual generation of waveforms on the connected actuator. An audio mode allows quick and easy generation of waveforms using existing audio software like Audacity® for haptic prototyping. The piezoelectric actuator sensing capability is used to emulate button behavior. The sensing and feedback parameters can be changed using the software. Many GPIOs and hardware features are accessible to ease prototype building.
