With so much buzz around “Digital” it’s difficult to summarize DigiKey’s position on the subject without providing our definition. Digital for DigiKey is leveraging new technologies to continue delivery of our world class customer experience along with achieving higher levels of efficiencies for our customers and for our teams. There are many aspects to Digital. Digital goes beyond a specific technology, platform, API (Application Programming Interface) or automated solution. Digital is a new way of doing business, where everyone can benefit by aligning business moments with efficient methods to exceed customer expectations.
DigiKey has been a leader in the Ecommerce aspect of Digital for many years. Many of our processes and solutions are built around technologies that deliver excellent customer experience, coupled with automation to keep delivery costs down and efficiencies high. As customers become more accustomed to technologies that accommodate visual, voice, artificial intelligence, unified communication and many others as methods to interact with technology systems, we are working to be sure we are designing a Digital Platform that best matches the expectations of our legacy customers and align to new customer needs. We want to be certain we are delivering the best solutions for all our customers who visit our sites or work with our technical and customer service people directly. We’ve have a number of updates in the works over the next 18-24 months, with the first expected by mid-2018. I’ll provide more follow-up details through TheCircuit as we release new technology. The world is moving to API technologies for efficient and direct B2B communications. DigiKey is leading the way in our industry by providing multiple API solutions today. These solutions are not prototype, they are used by customers at all levels to get and provide the information required to get the parts they need through solutions utilizing the most efficient technology methods. We have the documentation and support to assist our customers benefit via a real-world proven Digital capability.
As DigiKey expands our operation due to our growth via the buildout of our new Product Distribution Center, we will be utilizing newer Digital automation and technologies that will guarantee the continued positive experience for our customers. We are working to integrate new technologies for our website that will maintain the legacy experience for the tens of thousands of design engineers who have provided strong feedback that they would like it to remain “as-is”, while accommodating visitors who need more assistance and guidance to find what they need.
DigiKey is excited that Digital is something our customers are working to incorporate into their solutions to benefit their businesses. We have been involved in aspects of Digital for many years, and we look forward to helping our customers achieve their Digital goals by utilizing the Digital solutions we are working on today and tomorrow; we see the Digital road as one of incredible opportunity. We have many deliverables planned along the way that will benefit our customers as we continue to build out our platform, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
