When using PTCEL for inrush current limiting, one must also account for the dynamic resistance due to voltage. An example of dynamic resistance is shown here for the 13 size, 500 Ohm, see the green line. Before voltage is applied, the resistance is about 500 Ohms. When an 800V charged capacitor is discharged through the PTCEL13 at T0, the peak current of around 3.8A is limited by the dynamic PTC resistance dropping to about 200 Ohms and stabilizing around 500 Ohms after 150 Joules of energy have been absorbed.
