2019 Hackaday Prize – A Prize Like No Other
2019-04-29 | By David Sandys
There are literally hundreds of design contests every year, but none are like the Hackaday Prize. The Prize gets hundreds of team and individual entries all targeted at making society and the world a better place; and their community always comes up with the most interesting and cutting-edge solutions. If you are searching for inspiration and want to get in tune with that spark of innovation, then follow, or better yet, sign-up for the Hackaday Prize.
At DigiKey we pride ourselves in having the latest technology as soon as it is available on the shelf and available for immediate shipment. The Hackaday community is always one of the first to adopt and utilize that technology to its fullest potential. When you combine that with goals and aspirations created by the Hackaday Prize, the results are solutions that cannot be found anywhere else.
The prizes for winning are simply amazing. The grand prize is $125,000 and a residency at the Supplyframe DesignLab in Pasadena, California. The contest itself has five categories and the winner in each will receive $10,000. There will be five honorable mention awards of $3,000 each. In addition, the twenty designs that get the most likes from the community will also be eligible for $500 in seed money. All of the major winners will be announced at the Hackaday Superconference in November. DigiKey will be there and so should you!
The five categories for 2019 are:
- Concept (originality, user)
- Design (UX, EE, ID, UI)
- Production (DFM, BOM, Scalability)
- Benchmark (what's on the market, competitive analysis)
- Communication (documentation, branding, packaging)
