Pimoroni MLX90640 Thermal Camera Breakout | DigiKey Daily
Pimoroni offers the MLX90640 thermal camera breakout, which makes using the Melexis MLX90640 far-infrared sensor array easy-to-use with the Raspberry Pi or Arduino. The camera is an array of 768 thermal sensors that can detect temperatures from minus 40 to 300 degrees Celsius with approximately 1 degree of accuracy and up to 64 frames-per-second. The camera uses I2C and is available in two different fields-of-view: the standard 55 degrees and the wide angle 110 degrees. Also, Pimoroni has written software in C that is available for generating images and video from the camera. Possible projects include monitoring the temperature of circuit boards or electrical appliances, identifying thermal inefficiencies in your home, or for making a heat-seeking night vision camera.
